Real life or Reel life?

Going to movies as a family? Should we look at the entertainment factor? Do we want to see emotional and message giving movies? I feel movie time with families should be fun and not something which leaves us sad when we come out.

Yesterday my daughter finished her final exams and we decided to go for a movie. I heard from everybody that Kapoor and sons is a family movie and as we cannot take our kids to all Bollywood movies these days, I wanted to go as a family to watch it. My elder one was reluctant to go as she finds Bollywood movies boring. I told her that it is supposed to be a good one.

The movie got me thinking, "Why do we go to watch a movie?"

Dont promise me..prove me!

Vows, promises, kasams and vaadas are all the terms which we hear more in the initial years of marriage. After few years, these are happily broken, forgotten and left in those initial years only. I also feel that meaning of kasams and vaadas completely change after few years of marriage. Newly married couples will have bright eyed optimism in everything and a different approach to life.
They will promise each other -

1. I will love and cherish you forever.
2. I will always be your side. (for better or worse)
3. I will be your side till death do us part.
4. I will never fight with you and try to keep you happy always.

And many more romantic vows like this, but I am sure they are no longer same if someone asks you to take vows after few years of marriage. After 15 years of marriage, meaning of vows completely change. It's not about only being romantic and lovey dovey. It's about lot of other things. So, “I’m blogging about the kasams I want from my man this Women’s Day with the #SadaSexy activity at BlogAdda in association with Set Wet.”

Here is my list of vows and promises which I need from my better half -

1. I want him to take care of his body and go for exercise every day.
2. I want him to order make up ice cream (my favourite one) whenever we fight.

3. I want him to love me as much he loves his laptop.

4. I want him to actually listen to me instead of just pretending to listen to me.

5. I want him to continue cooking those wonderful things which he does cook for us sometimes. ( Please clean the kitchen too after that).

6. I want him to love me, in sickness or health, till death do us part and even when I need to go shopping and buy expensive stuff.

7. I want him to keep the patience like he always does with me whenever I become difficult. I actually want you to listen to me before I become difficult as now my patience is running out ;)

8. I want him to give me a hug like he always does whenever I am not feeling too good.

9. I want to him to make more fun travel plans like he always does.

10. Above all, I want him to promise that we won't fall into old routines and we will look for new and interesting ways to keep our relationship fun.

Entrepreneurial bug- Has it bitten you yet?

Today in India, people are moving from established organisations to new age ventures. Many youngsters in their mid to late twenties are venturing into start-ups. So many things have changed over the past few years with regard to careers. Earlier, it was enough to know what industry you wanted to be in. If you apply for a job in that field with a decent resume and a college degree was enough to get your dream job.

Today that is not the case. The idea of a "stable and secure” pay check is surely not the same as it was few years ago.
After the success of quite a few start-ups lately, there is a good change in attitude of people towards working at start-ups.

Making money and profit is just as hard now as it was in the past but today there is lot of passion to start a new venture.
Earlier there were older people with experience competing in the marketplace. After certain amount of experience, they used to think we are smart enough to start a new venture. On the other hand, young people are doing start-ups because everyone who pass out of college thinks they are smarter and want to take over the world.

They have lots of ideas for a start-up. They just jump into world of entrepreneurship without any experience and guidance.

If they would have spent some time being MENTORED rather than rushing things, they would be more successful in the long term. With proper guidance and mentoring, one can learn many new things which can really help in a start-up. It makes sense to get proper guidance from experienced people to avoid stumbling in your business later.

Confessions Of A Daughter And An Open Apology To Everybody Else!

I took your love and care for granted at times,
I never thought, you will be gone so soon.

I remember you each and every day,
And think of only good memories to feel better,
I never thought you will be gone so soon.

Thank you life!

Life has given me more than I wanted!
Life has shown me many new dimensions,
Thank you life for all the lessons!

Life has shown me all shades of grey,
Life has taught me where there is will, there is a way,
Thank you life for all the lessons!

Life can be hard,
Life can be tough, but life can be changed,
Thank you life for all the lessons!

Life has come in many different forms,
Like a new opportunity, like an unexpected storm, like a difficult choice,
Learnt a lesson new lesson every time,
Life goes on and never stops for those who believe!

Thank you life for all the ups and downs,
Thank you life for a happy moment after every grey cloud,
Thank you life for all the experiences and for everything else that make me proud!

Expectations!

Don't ask me anything,
Don't leave me thinking,
Life can be hard for those who expect!

Don't think too much,
Don't aim too high,
Life can be hard for those who expect!

Don't change yourself,
Don't hate yourself,
Life can be hard for those who expect!

Life is about creating yourself,
Life is not about erasing everything else,

If you expect brightness,
you will get dullness!

If you expect sadness,
you will find laughter!

If you expect struggle,
You will find freedom!

Don't expect too much,
Don't depend too much,
Life can be hard for those who expect!

Unwanted and unhealthy competition!

Is competition a good, or a bad, thing for children?  I believe, Competition is good but unwanted and unhealthy competition is not good. Some say that it encourages a child to excel in today’s competitive world where we compete for everything.
Others say it can destroy self-esteem and lead to bitterness and irritation.

When I see around, I fail to understand why parents are unnecessarily pushing kids to do everything these days. They just blindly follow others instead of understanding their own child’s interests.
I believe, due to unwanted pressure from parent’s kids can be just too hard on themselves when things don't go their way.  Kids try to satisfy the demands of a parent or teacher and end up feeling like winning is the only way to gain the approval of the adults they respect.
I used to think that competition could be healthy and fun. But there is no such thing as ‘healthy’ competition. In our culture, a child is told that it isn’t enough to be good.
The kids should be told that not everyone can win a contest. If one child wins, another cannot. Children feel better about themselves when they work with others instead of against them.
Healthy competition inspires kids to do their best. Unfortunately, in our country, the frequent win-at-all costs mentality associated with many competitions can reduce children’s motivation and lead them to avoid activities they may otherwise enjoy.  It is important to let your child develop and flourish on their own, at their own pace. Don't go to the extreme when raising your child. Don't over-schedule your child and bombard them with a million different activities, because this can have negative results.
We should remember that not every child is good at everything but they are all special and we should encourage them in whatever they are good at! We should teach a child to accept failure and that  “it’s OK to fail”.
